Behind the painting
This painting is made of layers that begun in 2024 as an abstract experiment. Over the next year I kept returning to try different things, keeping the parts that worked.
At the same time, I was drawing sculptures with drapery, captivated by its illusion of softness and pliability, but how fabric is also very strong.
This year, I decided to try layering paintings of cloths over the more colourful abstract background and the juxtaposition creates a kind of visual tension that can be interpreted differently by each viewer.
